SHIVA-TOPIC OF MY CHOICE

Shiva is the most popular god in post classical Hinduism. He is known as the god of death and destruction but also know of rebirth and the god of reproduction. This god most interest me because it is considered the most popular and he had two wives which were total opposite of each other. what I did find out from reading pages 96-103 was that Shiva didn't have two girls at the same time. His first girl Kali was the evil one and she to was a god of destruction but far more destructive then Shiva. She was killed and then his second girl Paravati pursued him even though her and Shiva was the total opposite of each other. She believed the could help Shiva with her good nature. But Shiva always stayed the same and she still loved him because she was always nice and was the opposite of Kali, who was evil. I liked Shiva at of all the other gods because even though he was known as the god of death and destruction he also was know for as the god for reproduction. so even though he could take lives he could give life also. what a unique god in my opinion.

BHAKTI YOGA (EMOTIONAL YOGA)

Hinduism conceives it's self converting to different peoples needs because not all people want to worship under yoga the same way because people are different. People have different ways of worshiping. To make it better for the Hindus they broke the worshiping up into four different yoga worships. The four different types of yoga worships fits into this adaptation for the Hindus because they can choose the way they worship and the god who fits there beliefs and feelings. I beleive I fall under the emotional yoga. I think this because I am a very emotional and sensitive person. I lead with my emotions and the emotional yoga if ment for people like myself, who lead with there emotions. the first time I heard the for different yoga names, I atomatically knew that I was in with the emotional yoga without even knowing any info about it. I had a sence of feeling that I belonged in with the emotional yoga. The emotional yoga directs there love and emotion to brahma. and this is done with the expectation with nothing in return. I could see myself doing this becuase I do it now. I love to help people with no expectation of anything in return. I do it from my heart. The emotional yoga is the most popular in the Hinduism yoga.

I agree with Shaw in some aspects of the quote. he is right, there is one religion for each belief. The essential characteristics and functions of religion is that people are worshiping some type of god(s). And most religions there are rules to follow in order to be part of that religion. So all religions are the same but have different names because they are following a certain god and certain beliefs. But where I do disagree at is that all religions that are being worshiped are different. They all are following different believes and punishments from the god they believe in. Different religions have different believes. Two religions may believe in heaven and Hell but the difference of the two maybe you god will for give you if you ask for forgiveness and the other can believe that even thought you do ask for forgiveness, depending on what sin you committed god will not forgive you. So I do believe that all religions are not the same when it comes to the beliefs and worships, but they are the same as far as the structure of the belief. Such as believing in a god and following the religious beliefs.

POST OF RELIGIOUS TOPIC OF MY CHOICE-SEPT. 18TH

When having to read pages 70-96 and pages 107-108, what most interest me is all the different religions and believe that came out of and from Hinduism. My mane wonder is why the Muslims were allowed to just name all religious people who did not want to convert to Islam Hindus. I understand that they were in ruling at the time, but if this was a place in time where people took religion very serious and they didn't care about what religion other people studied, then why didn't they put people who had there own choice of religion that was not Muslim, be what they wanted to be and put them in the same category. I dont think it was fare for the Muslims to put people with other groups of people who studied similar but different types of religion in one category and with one name of religion. I had a conversation with my aunt Kemi who is Muslim and when I explained to her what I have learned in class and that the Muslims put people who were not Muslims and who didn't want to convert to Islam, they were labeled under one religion such as Hindus. It was to her surprise. She told me that maybe because the Muslims at that time were the dominate religion. Even though the people who were called Hindus were able to practice and worship there belief of religion which had no name to other people such as the Muslims. at least they had the chance to believe in what they wanted to and got the chance to practice there own religion. I just don't think it was fare for the Muslims to restrict there name of the religion that one person believed in just because they didn't convert to Islam. Im pretty sure the Indians who didnt convert to Islam had there own name of religion were upset that they were labeled and put in a category of one religon. but that was the first word the Muslims used to describe religion. maybe the word just followed the Indians after generations. So the Indians embraced the word and still use it to this day to describe there type of religion and beliefs. This is why there is many different types of religions that came out of Hinduism.

BELIEF O MATIC

What I learned form the survey is that there are so many different types of religions that have similar beliefs. I never knew there were so many different names of religions also. I guess because I never was a religious person I never payed attention or never wanted to study religion. By taking this survey it has opened my mind and interest to learning about religion. The religion I study is Baptism. My results from the survey states that I am 100% a Reform Judaism. I guess because I believe in one god as a person but a spirit. Also because I believe in heaven and hell and I think people choose there fate. If you choose to be a good person god will bless you choose to be a bad person then you will go to hell. But what is most similar in my beliefs and the Reform Judaisms is that I believe that god will forgive you even if you lived a bad life by praying to god and living a good life after you have sinned. the reform Jews call it salvation. The one religion that surprised me that I was 84% close to was the Islam religion. what is similar and my belief and Muslims, is again, the belief of one god which is formless. I don't know how I got such a high score under Muslims because they believe that satin controls the non believers and if you follow Muhammad's rules you will be blessed. I don't believe in Muhammad's doctrine. maybe it appeared because I believe in one god.
